Even teenagers who don't consider chemistry their favorite class love to experiment -- especially with hair color. Before your teen tests how permanent color (in vivid red, sassy blue or midnight black) looks in her hair, suggest other alternatives. "It's best to not start teens off too young with hair color because it can get costly for moms and can compromise the integrity of hair at an early age," said Carla Zuniga, stylist at West Hollywood's Salon Benjamin. Something temporary like a gloss or Manic Panic are better choices for starter colors. Both are less damaging and fade out after a few washes.
