How to Clean Older, Sticky Shower Curtains

Step 1

Fill the bathtub with enough hot water to submerge the shower curtain.

Step 2

Pour 2 cups white vinegar and 1/2 cup mild detergent into the water. Use dish detergent for vinyl or plastic shower curtains, or laundry detergent for fabric shower curtains.

Step 3

Submerge the shower curtain into the water. Scrub the entire shower curtain with the nylon scrubber side of a sponge.

Step 4

Drain the water, and rinse the shower curtain with fresh water from your shower head. Hang the shower curtain back up and allow it to air-dry.
