Walking is an excellent form of low-impact exercise for women in general. Walking during pregnancy, however, can make your body and organs more efficient while you nurture your unborn child, says Birgitta Lauren, a Los Angeles-based prenatal fitness and nutrition specialist. “Walking improves circulation which improves blood, oxygen and nutrient flow to the baby, making the baby healthier than if mom didn’t exercise,” says Lauren. “It even strengthens the placenta.”
