We teamed up with Pharmacie, an incredible bar-for-hire service in Los Angeles. Taking cues from the classics, honoring the standards and creating their own bespoke drinks, Pharmacie's mixology is robust in innovative possibilities. Pharmacie bartenders are specialists in the art of making a good drink taste better.
For this week's Happy Hour, they served up something they call "The Starlet." Owner Talmadge Lowe calls it "clean and crisp and refreshing and somehow reminds me of Old Hollywood glamour." We couldn't agree more and are serving it at our next cocktail party. With a few simple ingredients, this vodka, vermouth and mint sip is as easy as it is elegant.
RECIPE: The Starlet
Yields 1 cocktail
3 oz vodka
1 oz dry vermouth
1 oz mint syrup
For garnish: fresh mint
For mint syrup:
10 oz water
8 oz sugar
3-4 fist-sized bunches of mint
Heat sugar and water until the sugar dissolves, take off heat and add mint for steeping.
Allow the syrup to cool to room temperature before using. Refrigerating overnight is preferred.
Combine all ingredients in a cocktail tin or stirring pitchers over ice and stir steadily for 30 seconds.
