How to Remove Chewing Gum From Material

Step 1

Gently scrape as much gum as possible from the material with a dull knife.

Step 2

Apply ice to the remaining gum for 10 to 20 seconds. Rub the hardened gum with your fingers; it should roll into a ball that you can easily remove.

Step 3

Treat the gum residue with a pre-treatment liquid or stick. Rub the material to work the detergent into the material.

Step 4

Apply 1/8 of a cup of heavy duty liquid laundry soap to the stain. Wash the material in hot water, if advisable on the fabric's care label. Otherwise, use as warm a temperature as advised.
