Happy Hour: Dame Peligro Cocktail

Photograph by Daniel Montoya

The St. Felix is a cool hangout in Hollywood, serving up custom cocktails and delicious bar fare. Their mix masters created this drink just for Mom.me, and we're sure you'll love it as much as we do. A Spanish twist on the Iggy Pop song title “Gimme Danger,” this “Dame Peligro” reminds us of a margarita with a sweet watermelon base but with a surprising kick of jalapeño. Dangerous, indeed.

RECIPE: Dame Peligro

Yields 1 cocktail

  • 3 oz watermelon, freshly cut
  • ½ oz simple syrup
  • ½ oz fresh lime juice
  • Jalapeño slices (1 for mild, 2 for medium, 3 for hot)
  • 2 oz tequila
  • Chili or coarse salt for rim
  • Lime wedges for garnish

  1. Salt or chile the rim of a Mason jar by running a lime wedge around the rim and dipping it into a plate of salt or chili.
  2. Muddle together the watermelon, simple syrup, lime juice and jalapeno slices.
  3. Add tequila and vigorously shake over ice.
  4. Strain into a Mason jar.
  5. Add a few ice cubes and top off with soda water.
  6. Garnish with a slice of watermelon and lime.
