Two Kids, Four Days and Onboard Wi-Fi to Get Me Through a Family Vacation

Before the last days of summer turned into the first days of school, my family took a four-day trip to Michigan to check out the sights and a new family-friendly SUV. With a very wild (but adorable) 3-year-old and an adorable (but moody) 10-year-old, the 4 1/2 hour flight to Detroit and the five-hour drive the following day sounded like a lot of work. After stocking up on candy (for bribery purposes) and packing lots of Advil for me, I was finally ready and excited to experience Detroit for the first time with my family and check out the all-new 2018 Chevy Traverse.

When we arrived in Detroit, my family and I were taken to a family-friendly Traverse expo to meet the Chevy team. This included their engineers, designers and marketing teams.

I was blown away by how many hands go into designing a vehicle and how detail-oriented each team needs to be. They really listen to their buyers and improve on features each year.

As a mom, the feature I got most excited about was how much room the storage has (98.2 cubic feet)—perfect for all of those exciting Costco trips and soccer games! Here’s my little one stocking up the car. I just wish he would do this at home!

My kids were most excited for the built-in Wi-Fi. That means no more reloading DVDs into the portable player or hearing “Are we there yet?”—which is heaven for us all!

The next day we headed to Traverse City, a lovely lake town about five hours from Detroit. Normally spending more than an hour in the car turns into either crying, fighting or both (and that’s just from me, ha!). But this trip was totally different. The kids had their iPad and headphones (and the charging stations in each row made it so we didn’t have to worry about anyone losing power), and my husband and I listened to real music without anyone whining!

I was even able to eat chocolate without anyone noticing. Normally I hide in the bathroom for this, so being able to do it in the light of day felt like that ultimate mom win!

As a parent who drives hours in Los Angeles traffic every day, here are my ultimate car highlights and why you should check out the new Traverse, as well:

· Built-in OnStar 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot allows customers to connect up to seven devices.

· Best-in-class max cargo volume of 98.2 cubic feet and hidden underfloor cargo storage totaling 3.2 cubic feet.

· Rear camera mirror provides a video view, displaying a wider, less obstructed field of view compared with a traditional rearview mirror.

· Owners can manage their vehicle remotely and check diagnostics with the Chevrolet mobile app via their smartphone.
