Choose the oil you would like to use. Oils that are commonly used for hair treatments include olive, castor, coconut, almond and jojoba oil. You can use one of these oils or a combination of them for your treatment.
Heat the oil. Pour some oil in a small container, like a plastic bag or a glass. Heat it in the microwave or put it in hot water to warm up Allow the oil to get as warm as possible but do not heat it enough to burn or scald your skin.
Apply the oil to your hair with your fingers. Begin by saturating the ends of the hair, which are the most dry, damaged area of the hair. Work your way up through your hair until the oil is evenly distributed. If you are prone to oily roots, only apply the oil to the ends of your hair.
Put a plastic shower cap on your head and wrap a warm towel around your head to keep the oil heated. You can also stand in a hot shower to keep the oil warm. Leave the treatment on for about 30 minutes.
Use a gentle shampoo to rinse the oil out of your hair; if you completely rinse the oil out with a strong clarifying shampoo you may not get the desired result.
