Photograph by CherylStyle.com

Is there anything better than enjoying a warm buttermilk biscuit at breakfast? Or perhaps as a side dish to a dinner of barbecue? We think biscuits are the perfect companion to any meal, but they always seemed difficult to make. These buttermilk biscuits are not only easy to make, they're quick to bake! Check out the recipe below.

RECIPE: Buttermilk Biscuits

Yields 1 dozen biscuits

  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 Tbsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 2 tsp salt
  • ½ cup cold unsalted butter, cubed
  • 1 ½ cups buttermilk

  1. Preheat oven to 475 degrees.
  2. Mix flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt in large bowl.
  3. Add flour mixture and cubed butter to food processor; pulse until the butter is crumb size (or use a pastry blender).
  4. Return to mixing bowl and form a well in middle of flour mixture then pour in buttermilk. Stir with spoon until mixture is just combined.
  5. Place biscuit dough onto lightly floured surface and gently press dough out until ¾" thick. Cut out biscuits using 3" biscuit cutter and place on greased baking sheet.
  6. Bake 8-10 minutes, until golden brown then enjoy!
