How to Dry Split Hair

Step 1

Wash your hair with a strengthening shampoo. It will moisturize and thicken your hair while helping to prevent further breakage. Rinse your hair with cool, not hot, water.

Step 2

Squeeze as much water out of your hair as possible and apply a strengthening deep conditioner. Allow the conditioner to sit for at least three minutes, then rinse your hair with cool water.

Step 3

Squeeze your hair gently with a towel to dry. Rubbing your hair with the towel damages the hair cuticle.

Step 4

Spray your hair evenly with detangling spray or leave-in conditioner. Comb through your hair with a wide-toothed comb to remove tangles and evenly distribute the product.

Step 5

Blow dry your hair with your dryer on the cool setting. Hot air dries out your hair, making it more susceptible to damage.
