How Do I Remove Cat Odor From Hardwood Floors?

Step 1

Stir 2 teaspoons baking soda into 2 cups of 3 percent hydrogen peroxide with a plastic spoon to dissolve it.

Step 2

Add two drops of a bleach-free dish soap to the solution and stir again to mix it all up.

Step 3

Wipe the affected area clean with paper towels if fresh urine is present. Discard the paper towels immediately to get the smell out of the house.

Step 4

Soak the affected area with the mixture, pouring it on to cover the entire area. Allow the mixture to remain on the stain for 24 hours. If possible, block off the area by closing doors to keep pets and people from walking over it.

Step 5

Blot the area with a cloth or paper towels to absorb any remaining moisture. Allow the area to finish air-drying for one to two hours.

Step 6

Repeat this process until the smell is gone.
