How to Donate a Woman's Suit

Find the Right Suit

Step 1

Browse through your closet to find a suit or suit separates that you are not currently wearing, are too small or are no longer needed.

Step 2

Confirm that the suit is in good condition, coordinated and contemporary, and is professional and interview appropriate.

Step 3

Clean and press the suit to ensure a polished condition upon donation.

Step 4

Put the suit on a hanger and bring it to the charity you'll be donating it to.

Find a Local Charity

Step 1

Search online for a local charity that accepts suit donations. Dress for Success has 37 locations across the United States and takes professional women's clothing. Women's Alliance serves 21 states and also accepts suit donations. Goodwill and Salvation Army will always take gently worn professional items.

Step 2

Call the agency to review its donation process. Some organizations have strict rules about cleaning, when items can be brought in and how to set up a donation account.

Step 3

Once your item is donated, keep the receipt of your transaction for tax purposes.
