How to Keep Blueberries Fresh

Step 1

Place the blueberries into an airtight plastic or glass container. Choose a container that is big enough to hold all of the blueberries. These delicate fruits bruise easily and spoil quickly when bruised, so do not pack them into the container too tightly. Seal the container.

Step 2

Put the sealed container into the refrigerator. The blueberries will stay good in the refrigerator for about seven to 10 days before their quality begins to decline noticeably. They taste best when eaten within a few days, however.

Step 3

Remove the blueberries from the refrigerator shortly before you wish to eat them. Rinse them well under cool, running water and dry gently with paper towels, if necessary. Eat the berries plain or include them in a recipe or dish of your choice.
