How to Process Sunflower Seeds to Eat

Step 1

Place the sunflower seeds in a bowl and add enough water to cover them. Add 1/4 to 1/2 cup of salt for every 2 quarts of water and stir. Let the seeds soak overnight.

Step 2

Preheat the oven to 300 degrees Fahrenheit.

Step 3

Drain off the water and dry the seeds between paper towels and spread them on a cookie sheet.

Step 4

Bake for 30 to 40 minutes at 300 degrees Fahrenheit. Stir occasionally.

Step 5

Remove seeds from the oven when they are golden brown. Add salt to taste.
