Jessica Alba Launches Honest Beauty App and It's Awesome

If you're tired of getting makeup samples delivered to your doorstep (the half of which you'll never wear) from those other subscription boxes, you might want to check out Jessica Alba's newest makeup line that has a Web and mobile storefront, as well as a full-size product monthly subscription box where you get to choose the products.

You have a few options with Honest Beauty: You can buy single, full-size products, or get a monthly subscription with three full-size products for $50. The app is free to download, and you can browse products, watch makeup tutorials with Alba herself on how to create her looks, and use your phone's camera to " try on" products (which admittedly, is kind of creepy at first, but really fun once you get the hang of it). If you want to get your girlfriends' opinions on how the look suits you, you can also tap your screen on the look you like and easily share via email, SMS or social media.

If you're not keen on the live camera view, you can also see how the products look on models with a variety of skin tones and features to figure out if the look is right for you. And another thing we love? The availability of different foundation shades, and the fact that Alba models her own makeup line in her Instagram photos (the strawberry kiss lip crayon seems to be one of her favorites).

On the Honesty Beauty website, there are even more video tutorials with diverse women's faces to show you how to use different products. Honest Beauty is an extension of the Honest Co., the eco-friendly and nontoxic personal care and home-cleaning company she co-founded in 2011.

Since then, Honest Co. has gone on to offer more for moms in line with the company's ideals, including baby gear and a partnership designing colorful cribs with eco-friendly children's furniture company Babyletto.

The company says its makeup products are made without parabens, paraffins, silicones, talc, petrolatum, mineral oil and synthetic fragrances.

But according to TechCrunch, "the Honest Co. stresses that Honest Beauty is not a 'natural line.' The line uses a lot of natural materials and has a commitment to 'carefully sourced' materials, but doesn't call itself 'natural.'"

Totally natural or not, we love the way this app makes makeup shopping easier for moms (no need to leave the house!) and can't wait to try all the products!
