Lions, tigers, bears and sheep! Those are just some of the sweet illustrations that fill Gingiber. Get to know the mom behind this artsy brand.

What inspired you to start your business?

I remember it like it was yesterday. I was setting up my baby's nursery, unpacking boxes because we had just moved to Arkansas and I was unsure of what my future held. My husband was just starting grad school. I had just graduated from college with a degree in art, working as an assistant manager at a coffee shop and I was pregnant. I remember scouring through magazines for nursery decor inspiration, but feeling frustrated with the art selections available. My husband handed me a marker and said, "Stacie, draw your own nursery art!" And with that, I laid the groundwork for what Gingiber would be—a nursery decor company that specializes in art sweet enough for kids but smart enough for adults.

What do you most love about it?

There's so much I love! I love that I get to create artwork that makes people smile. I love the idea that my illustrations are on products people all of the world interact with everyday! I love ability to control my schedule and have flexibility to be with my kids. I love owning my own business.

What's the hardest thing about running your own business and being a mom?

Well, you could take all of the above answers and flip them. The good and bad go together. My products are all over the world, so to keep up with demand, I have employees to manage. I do control my own schedule, but golly it is HARD to get enough time in the day to be both a good businesswoman and a good mom. I do love owning my own business, but I miss having a consistent paycheck every month. The hustle is real, my friends.

What's your best-selling product?

The best-selling illustration is the Black Sheep.

What do your kids think about the work you do?

My kids want to grow up and be illustrators just like me! I just want my kids to see that working hard is an amazing quality to have. Hard work can move mountains.
