Two years after giving birth to a son, a Russian mother was looking through old baby items when she noticed an earth-shattering problem: Another woman’s name was on his hospital ID tag. The courts ordered DNA tests and, sure enough, her child had been accidentally switched at birth. At the time, only one nurse was on duty to watch 20 newborns. After confusion and crying by both parties, the mothers switched children. One of the moms, Zurema Taisumova, changed her biological child’s name but admitted her heartbreak. She said she “would continue to love the other little boy,” according to the New York Times.
