Recently, a Chinese mother bought a $6.5 million apartment in New York for her 2-year-old. Sotheby’s senior vice president Kevin Brown told China’s CCTV that he showed a woman (whose name was not released) apartments all over Manhattan. He told reporters that she said "her daughter was going to go to Columbia, or NYU, or maybe Harvard, and so she needed to be in the center of the city." When he asked how old her daughter was, she told Brown she was 2 years old. "I was just shocked,” he said. The mother ended up purchasing an apartment in a yet-to-be-completed building, which will eventually have a library with a pool table, aquarium and concert hall. While the purchase might seem a bit crazy, the mom might actually be making a savvy move: According to Brown, the condo's value has already shot up to $8.9 million.
