This Austin-area school opened in 1916 and served the community for seven decades, but by 1989 was too small and outdated to stay in service. Unfortunately, when the time came to tear the building down, restless spirits made it very difficult to do so. Construction workers reported mysterious mechanical failures in their equipment—bulldozers stalled, watches stopped and tools broke every time they tried to knock it down. This was all accompanied by the laughter of unseen children, obviously the school’s ghosts trying to protect their home. Eventually, they brought in a priest to perform an exorcism, which calmed the spirits enough for the demolition to go through.
