Malu Custer Edwards (pictured) and Micky Hurley, a wealthy Chilean couple living in New York City, allegedly hired nanny Felicitas del Carmen Villanueva Garnica to live at their home and care for their small children, according to Business Insider. However, according to the caretaker, whom the couple met in Chile, she was subjected to the children’s abuse, 12-hour days and hardly any food while being locked in a room with the kids.
Villanueva is suing this year, even after the New York Department of Labor in 2011 ordered the Chilean mother and father to hand over more than $6,000 in wages she was still owed. “They brought me here to mistreat me,” Villanueva said, according to Business Insider. “They were telling me I don’t have any rights of any sort.”
