When Ward Miller was born 16 months ago, he was 3 1/2 months early and weighed just under 1.5 pounds. While his parents, Benjamin and Lyndsey, were hopeful, they had no idea if their son would survive.
Fast forward to Halloween 2013, one year after Ward was released from the hospital and allowed to come home. His dad, a Columbus, Ohio-based wedding photographer, filmed his son's first year of life and uploaded the 7-minute video to Vimeo for his wife's birthday two weeks ago.
The film begins in the NICU with Lyndsey picking up her tiny son for the first time and follows moments throughout the year, including Ward's first birthday celebration.
As of today, the video has been viewed more than 2 million times.
"The response has been great—so many people have shared how it's touched their lives," Benjamin told Yahoo! Shine. "I've been blown away."
And while today Ward has an "irritable throat," something that premature babies often have, according to the site, he is also "a happy, pudgy 16-month-old Ohio boy who likes chasing the family dog and slurping green smoothies."
