There seems to be non-stop controversy surrounding drinking during pregnancy and after, when you're breastfeeding. While some sources say that moderation is key, others say that any amount of alcohol can lead to physical or mental problems later on for the child. Bottom line: everyone has an opinion. Then again, it's still surprising when complete strangers insert themselves into your life and tell you how you should be living your life and raising your child.
A waitress called the police when she saw one of her customers consuming alcohol while breastfeeding at the pizzeria. Jackie Conners, the server, said it was "unacceptable" that mom, Tasha Adams was drinking. So, she took matters into her own hands and reported her to the authorities.
The mother was "arrested and charged with endangering the welfare of a minor," the Daily Mail reported. She will tell her story in court in January.
Days later, Conner was fired, though her manager said that the incident was not the reason for her termination.
The more we think about this situation, the crazier it sounds. We can't imagine going to a restaurant and ending up in handcuffs for enjoying a cocktail or two. We understand that it isn't socially acceptable to drink while breastfeeding, and not the healthiest for a baby, but we can't believe a woman called the cops on her! What do you think? How would you react?
