How Much Sugar Is Really in That Coke?

We all know that there's a ton of sugar in soft drink these days. But do we really know how much is in each cup? If we had known the actual facts from the start, perhaps none of us would be as addicted to the sodas we loveas we are today.

Even the President of Coca Cola in Europe, James Quincey, said that most customers don't realize how much sugar is in each serving. But now we're getting a clearer picture.

Say you're at the movies and you order a large Coke—that cup has a whopping 44 teaspoons of sugar in it! A small cup of Coke, also at the movies, contains over 20 teaspoons of sugar. A 17 ounce can of Coke (or 500ml) contains 10.5 cubes of sugar. The shocking list goes on.

But Coca Cola isn't trying to hide these numbers from their customers; Quincey says that the company is focused on "getting the information out there."

What do you think of these numbers? Are you planning on cutting down on full-sugar Coke products? Opt for Coke Zero or Diet Coke if you're looking to cut back.
