Gunman Dead in Colorado School Shooting

Almost one year to the day after the mass school shooting in Newtown, Conn.—and on Friday the 13th no less—a gunman entered Arapahoe High School in Denver suburb Centennial, Colo., and opened fire.

The suspected gunman, according to the Denver Post, was later found dead of "an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound." And while his death is the only reported casualty in the incident that began at about 12:30 p.m. local time, at least one student was reportedly injured in the attack.

"At least one person—a minor—was taken to Littleton Adventist Hospital with a gunshot wound, Lauren Brendel, a hospital spokeswoman, told CNN," CNN reports.

While the gunman has yet to be identified, CNN reports that he was a student who wanted to confront a teacher. The teacher was uninjured in the incident.

The shooting occurred about 10 miles away from Columbine High School, where two students killed 13 people in a shooting in April 1999.
