1-Year-Old Diagnosed With Rare, Aggressive Cancer

Meet Kaiyanna. She goes by Kai and is just a year old ... but she's already had a tough life.

Less than a month ago, Kai went in to surgery to have a malignant tumor removed from her brain.

Just a week later, the little girl was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive brain cancer, Atypical Teratoid Rhabdoid Tumor (AT/RT), which is usually diagnosed in childhood and treated with a tough regimen of chemotherapy and radiation.

A little over a week ago, Kai began chemotherapy. Her mom, Teal, remains by her side and says this of her little champion: "She will go on to lead a happy childhood. She will be proud of her brain surgery scar. My one year old is tougher than you." We're sure that's true.

But here's where the waterworks really hit us: As if the odds weren't already stacked against Kai and her mom, their insurance isn't covering a large portion of their expenses. If you'd like to help out, click here to find out more information about donating.
