Girl Writes Letter to Late Great-Grandmother–and Hears Back

First, you should know that Great-Grandma Minnie Sue (a.k.a. Mawmaw) was kind of the best. And despite having gone up to Heaven last year, her great-granddaughter Bella Hosford has never forgotten that fact.
Which is why, back in August–exactly a year after Mawmaw went to Heaven–the 8-year-old penned a letter to her "favoritist grandma", and let it float up to meet her, by way of a balloon. "Tell Mawmaw I love her," the little note read.
Bella wasn't sure if the letter would make it all the way up there beyond the clouds... but as it turns out, it did.
Just a few months later, that same balloon (now deflated, of course) arrived on the Hosford's doorstep in Chapel Hill, Tenn. This time, it was inside a small box, alongside a locket and a new note, which read:
Dearest Bella, Mawmaw is always with you. Just close your eyes and you will see her. Love, your guardian angel.
"If I knew who that person was," Bella told her local news station WSMV-TV, "I would walk up to them and hug them on their neck and tell them thank you."
In the meantime, the letter writer may remain a mystery, but Bella says she plans to wear that locket around her neck every day. And we can't think of a better tribute to Mawmaw.
