When we were kids, calling random strangers and asking dumb questions like "Is your refrigerator running?" produced a thrill. Instead of relatively innocent pursuits like those, one upstate New York 2-year-old girl gets her kicks a little bit differently ... by calling the cops. Fifteen times in one month, according to the New York Daily News.
Yep, you read that right. A toddler hijacks her mom's phone (and her mom's boyfriend's phone) and sneaks off to make 9-1-1 prank calls.
According to the girl's mom, she kept hiding her phone from the curious toddler ... with little success. Lowville (N.Y.) Police reported that the 2-year-old called the Lewis County 9-1-1 dispatch 15 times in January alone.
Thankfully, the calls have slowed to a halt in February, but the girl's mom is being charged with "obstructing governmental administration," nonetheless.
While it might seem like the county is overdoing it by pressing charges, we completely understand. Having the lines open for actual emergencies is important!
Do your kids have any weird habits? Hopefully, they don't involve making illegal prank calls to lifesaving hotlines!
