After the Kids Leave: A Single Dad's Perspective

How do you get past homesickness or the gut-wrenching feeling of missing someone so deeply? Small remedies like making comfort food or wrapping up in a blanket with a cup of tea can only go so far, right? Then what?

One single dad brings us on a journey through the hour after his kids leave his custody each week—otherwise known as the 53rd Hour. It's incredibly sad and heartwarming at the same time.

He speaks of the little things that have been left behind, tossed and forgotten, which now serve as his saving grace: food that he previously yelled at his children to finish, he now cherishes as a reminder of them. Watch the video (which is shot only on an iPhone) for a glimpse into his life.

Perhaps we can all learn a lesson about how to cope from this dad's experiences?
