Fifteen-year-old Irish teenager Triona Priestly had her last wish come true on Sunday, when singer Ed Sheeran serenaded her over the phone minutes before she passed away.
Priestly, who suffered from cystic fibrosis, listened as Sheeran sang her favorite song, Little Bird, after a massive Twitter campaign with the hashtag #SongForTri garnered thousands of posts on the social-media site and convinced Sheeran's management to take notice.
"Myself and my family would like to thank Ed Sheeran and everyone who started and supported the #SongForTri campaign," Priestly's brother, Colm, tells Irish site Independent.ie.
"What they gave us and her was a beautiful last moment together," he adds. "Triona slipped into a sleep as Ed was singing to her and passed away shortly afterwards. So Ed Sheeran sang her to sleep."
Sheeran himself tweeted out, "Rest in peace Triona, so heartbreaking x"
