VIDEO: Big Sis Doesn't Want Her Brother to Grow Up — Like, Ever
byKaitlin StanfordJul 30, 2014
Recently, 5-year-old Sadie Miller received some rather horrifying news: her adorable, bubbly, impossibly tiny little brother Carson was going to grow up one day. As in, grow into a full-blown adult and lose all of the cuteness she loves so much about him. Can you imagine a worse fate?
Faced with the prospect of never again seeing little Carson babbling and diaper-clad, Sadie was reduced to a puddle of tears. And we're not talking just a few little drops here and there — we're talking the uncontrollable kind, where cries turn to wails and you lose all sense of propriety.
There's no getting around it, Sadie was a mess. And it was hilarious to watch. Lucky for us, Dad got it all on film.
"I don't want him to grow up!" she tells her parents in the video, after kissing Carson lovingly on the head.
"Do you want him to stay little forever?" her mom asks, off-camera.
"Yeah, he's so cute!" she cries back, before suddenly switching the subject and crossing over into full-on crises-mode: "And I don't want to die when I'm a hundred!" she throws in.
(Yikes, Sadie. Take it down a notch.)
Meanwhile, little Carson stares up at her with a smile, as if to say "Hey sis, whatchu cryin' about?"
As Sadie's mom tries to calm her fears, her dad Ryan has more important things to attend to—– like stealthily filming her meltdown to later share on YouTube. After all, this is clearly comedy gold.
Ryan posted the clip to Reddit on Monday, where it has since taken off in a big way, racking up one million views and counting. As he told Time on Tuesday, the best part about Sadie's hilarious meltdown was that it was completely spontaneous. "The funny thing is that this was totally out of the blue," he said. "We have no idea what prompted this."
"She’s cried about not wanting to get older herself in the past, but this was the first time she was upset about her brother," said Ryan in a statement provided by his brother, Alex.
