Video: Julianna Margulies, Jimmy Fallon Rock Morning School Announcements

Julianna Marguilies and Jimmy Fallon play singing principals in new skit

When actress Julianna Margulies swung by "The Tonight Show" Tuesday night, the audience probably assumed she was there to chat with Jimmy about the upcoming season of "The Good Wife" (which premieres September 21, by the way—so set your DVRs). After all, last season did end on a doozy of a cliff-hanger, making Season 6 the most-anticipated one yet.

But as it turned out, they were in for way more than just a fall TV show plug.

Margulies, who is perhaps best known for her dramatic roles, showed us a side of her we'd never seen before, when she teamed up with Jimmy to play a pair of musically inclined school principals. As the awkward-yet-lovable Principal Davidson and Vice Principal McGungle, the duo hilariously sing their way through the morning announcements in a style that brings back memories of Ana Gasteyer and Will Ferrell's Culp Family on SNL. (With a hint of Gasteyer and Molly Shannon's NPR skit thrown in?) From announcing the upcoming school bake-off to the tune of Taylor Swift's "Shake It Off" to warning girls not to "text their nudes" along with the beat of "So Rude," these morning announcements are way cooler than anything we ever snoozed through in high school.

Fallon even gives an adorable nod to his old alma mater, by centering the entire skit on Saugerties High School, in Saugerties, N.Y.
