TLC Cancels 'Honey Boo Boo' Over Controversy

"Honey Boo Boo" gets canceled amid controversy

After days of disturbing rumors, TLC has officially canceled their low-brow hit "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo."

The network reportedly gave the show the axe after talk started swirling around Mama June's new secret boyfriend Mark McDaniels. Not only is McDaniels a convicted child molester who recently served 10 years in prison for forcing oral sex on a child—but the child in question was one of Mama June's own relatives. These disturbing facts, coupled with the obvious threat McDaniels poses to June's children, are what ultimately led the network to pull the plug.

Though Mama June (aka June Shannon) is continuing to deny the relationship, TLC apparently believed otherwise, and canceled the show anyway. Call us crazy, but their suspicions might have something to do with the photos TMZ leaked photos of the pair in bed in a hotel room (yes, the story just keeps getting weirder).

"Supporting the health and welfare of these remarkable children is our only priority," the network said in a statement to TMZ. "TLC is faithfully committed to the children's ongoing comfort and well-being."

And so, despite having shot an entire new season of episodes, TLC has decided not to air them after all. The profitable show, while dipping of late in the ratings, has boasted an all-time high of 3.21 million viewers in its two-year run.

Despite the cancelation, though, TLC has said it will still support Shannon kids by paying for tutors and counselors, according to TMZ.
