Washington Student Dead, More Injured, in School Shooting

A Washington student opened fire in his high school's cafeteria Friday morning and then committed suicide. The Seattle Times is reporting that the gunman is the only suspect in the shooting at Marysville-Pilchuck High School in Marysville, Wash.

Students told reporters they heard four gunshots, after which the school went immediately into lockdown. Four students were rushed by ambulance to local hospitals and another was airlifted from the scene, according to a tweet from the local news affiliate, FOX6.

Students also tweeted from inside the school, and The Daily Dot published numerous tweets describing the incident and warning others away from the cafeteria.

The story is still developing though police have confirmed the gunman is dead.

Aerial shots show a number of students being escorted out of the building in handcuffs, though they were released without charges almost immediately, Ryan Gorman reported on AOL.

Students told reporters they were evacuated to a nearby church, while SWAT team members scoured the school buildings and grounds.

School officials cancelled classes and activities for the rest of the day, as FBI and local police investigate the area.
