A Halloween Treat for Harry Potter Fans!

Halloween brings many gifts: cute kids in costume, free candy and a wide variety of spooky movies airing on TV for young and old. But there is one MORE fabulous gift for us all. The one and only J.K. Rowling—yes, THAT J.K. Rowling—will be releasing a "Harry Potter"-related story on October 31. The brand-new tale won’t be about Harry, Hermione or Ron but rather an older, less central character from the "Harry Potter" series.

The star of this new piece of Potterdom is Dolores Umbridge, a witch and former Hogwarts professor, who didn’t appear in the series until the fifth book, "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix."

The breaking news about the story was announced on Rowlings’ site Pottermore.com.

“Umbridge is not only one of the most malicious Potter characters, she is the only person other than Lord Voldemort to leave a permanent physical scar on Harry. The new exclusive J.K. Rowling content provides a rich, 1,700-word back story about Umbridge’s life, filled with many new details, as well as Rowling’s revealing first-person thoughts and reflections about the character.”

After the last Harry Potter book, die-hard fans have been anxious for the story to not end, to never end. While Rowling took on other projects, it seems that she can’t escape the epic world she created. Earlier this year she published a short story about a grown-up Harry Potter (which came out seven years after the end of the series).

I don’t know about you, but I love that Rowling’s returning to the land that so many of us hold dear. She has the ideas, she has the words and she certainly has the audience. While the original saga has all been said and done, giving the world what they want as a Halloween present is pretty damn magical.

Are you looking forward to revisiting the characters of Harry Potter?
