What's the hot new accessory on the runway? Legos! British fashion designers Agi Mdumullla and Sam Cotton, known as the label Agi & Sam, sent their models down the runway with real Lego blocks glued to their faces.
After a visit to Mdumulla's family home in England, the designers discovered drawings of a clothing line he had created before he even started school. "The Coolman Collection," as it was called, became the jumping off point for the rest of the collection. The young design duo honored the designs of the 4-year-old and debuted it at London's fashion showcase.
The clothing was inspired by childhood play as well. Bright, primary colors inspired by the building blocks were abound. Jackets, trousers and tailored knits featured patchwork elements and velcro, as if they were created by children. "We always want to have fun with clothes," said Agi & Sam to the London Evening Standard. "We wanted to look at how children see clothes, and how they possibly could change our perceptions of why clothes are made the way they are."
So who knows, maybe your tot will be fashion's newest darling.
