A 7-month-old from Pennsylvania has been named this year's Gerber Baby.
Grace, with chubby cheeks, bright eyes and winning smile, beat out 180,000 competitors for the crown, which has been awarded annually for the last five years in the company's "Be Our Baby" contest.
"While many of the entry photos this year met our criteria, Grace's captivating charm stole the judges' hearts. The Gerber Photo Search is celebrating its fifth year with this sweet new face!" said Cassie Savage, marketing specialist at Gerber.
Grace's parents will receive $50,000 for the top prize and Grace will have the opportunity to appear as spokesbaby on behalf the company in other ad campaigns.
The charming baby's mom, Gabrielle, said that the winning photo of her daughter was just the fifth one in a series that she shot of the girl in hopes of winning the contest. "She must have taken her hands out of her mouth and posed them like that for a split second because I didn't even realize how cute she was posing until after I was completely done taking pictures and looking back at what I had just taken!" she told Gerber reps. The company won't release the baby's family's last name out of respect for the family's privacy.
A panel of judges went through the thousands of entries, considering everyone from newborns to preschoolers. They looked for expressiveness and also "consistency with Gerber's heritage." In 2010, the winner was a 2-year-old. In 2013, a pair of twins took home the prize. In 2012, Latina baby 8-month-old Mary Jane Montoya was crowned most Gerber-like.
