Oklahoma City Thunder player Russell Westbrook got a brand-new Kia after being crowned the NBA All-Star MVP in February. But instead of hitting the road in his new ride, he gifted the automobile to a single mother who really needed a new set of wheels, according to E! Online.
Kerstin Gonzalez, a 19-year-old mother of two, thought it was just an average day at the Sunbeam Family Services center in Oklahoma City. But Westbrook was in the building with a set of keys to her brand new car.
"There were definitely tears of joy, and I could tell some tears of hard work and all the different things she's been through in her life," Westbrook told E! Online. "Today was a stepping stone in showing her that everything is going to be all right."
Gonzalez, who had her first child at 14, has been trying to graduate high school while working and caring for her two young boys. Her current vehicle was so run-down, it actually struggled to start earlier in the day.
"It's so touching and so amazing knowing that there are people out there willing to help the ones that are in need," Gonzalez told E! Online. "[Westbrook] was amazing — he was sweet and so attentive to what I had to say. He's a really awesome person."
