Mom's had enough of cheap perfume, flowers and chocolates for Mother's Day (OK, maybe not the chocolates), so why not do something different for her this year? That's what Project Glimmer is hoping, and it's definitely on to something. One of the sweetest gifts you can give mom is a donation in her name.
By spreading the love on holidays like Mother's Day and Christmas, Project Glimmer provides women and teenage girls with beautifully boxed gifts that make them feel the love from their community of gift-givers. So how can you help out?
Gifts of costume jewelry, purses and accessories, new makeup, beauty products and $20 gift cards are needed to bring a smile to someones face. As Project Glimmer reports, 8.1 million mothers live below the poverty line, and the nonprofit is striving to give a little glimmer this Mother's Day to those who need it.
Since its founding, Project Glimmer has given more than 65,000 gifts to thousands of women and girls. In 2014, Project Glimmer began giving Mother's Day gifts in addition to Christmas gifts.
Glimmer drives, becoming a volunteer and helping out with events are all ways you can help this organization stay strong. For more information on how you can get involved with Project Glimmer, click here.
