The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, aka Prince William and the former Kate Middleton, have named their new daughter Charlotte Elizabeth Diana, offering a nod to important female family members.
Baby Charlotte, who will be known as Her Royal Highness Princess Charlotte of Cambridge, shares her name with her aunt Pippa Middleton, whose middle name is Charlotte. Elizabeth, of course, is a nod to her great- and great-great grandmothers, Queen Elizabeth II and the late Queen Mother. And Diana connects the young princess to her late grandmother, William's mother Diana, who died tragically in a car crash in August 1997.
HRH Princess Charlotte of Cambridge was born on Saturday, May 2, and arrived mere hours after the Duchess was taken to the private Lindo Wing of St. Mary's Hospital in London.
Making a stunning same-day debut, both mother and daughter looked lovely just 10 hours after birth, with Kate and William waving to the crowd of press and well-wishers outside the hospital.
Big brother George even made an appearance, as his father took him into the hospital to meet his new baby sister.
