Navy Secretary Ray Mabus is proposing that the Navy and Marines double their current paid maternity leave policy to 12 weeks for expecting servicewomen. This is just one in a host of sweeping changes the Navy is proposing in an effort to retain and recruit more women in the Navy and Marines.
Other plans include extended child-care hours and allowing hundreds to take a "career intermission" and take a break from the military.
