Navy Proposes Extending Paid Maternity Leave

Navy Secretary Ray Mabus is proposing that the Navy and Marines double their current paid maternity leave policy to 12 weeks for expecting servicewomen. This is just one in a host of sweeping changes the Navy is proposing in an effort to retain and recruit more women in the Navy and Marines.

Other plans include extended child-care hours and allowing hundreds to take a "career intermission" and take a break from the military.
