Baby Klings to Koala Mom When She's Injured

The bond between a mother and her child is incredibly strong. And it goes both ways, as demonstrated in the animal kingdom (and every time your baby struggles to get out of Dad's arms and into Mom's).

When a koala was hit by a car while traveling with her baby, the duo were taken to the Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital so the mother could undergo an operation, according to BuzzFeed.

The hospital named the koala Lizzy and her little one Phantom. Lizzy sustained head trauma and a collapsed lung and had to be operated on, and during the procedure her baby held on to her the entire time.

A spokesperson for the Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital told BuzzFeed News that Lizzy is recovering well, and that Phantom has been sticking to her like glue.

The Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital is a 24/7 facility that has treated nearly 60,000 native wildlife patients. If you're interested in donating, visit their site.
