After four years of marriage, country singers Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert are divorcing.
"This is not the future we envisioned," Shelton and Lambert said in a statement to the Associated Press.
"And it is with heavy hearts that we move forward separately. We are real people, with real lives, with real families, friends and colleagues," they continued. "Therefore, we kindly ask for privacy and compassion concerning this very personal matter."
The former couple married in Texas in 2011 and have been dogged by splitting rumors for years, with Shelton going so far as telling People in 2013 that he let Lambert go through his phone, drawer and computers if she felt the need to.
Both Lambert and Shelton have made huge names for themselves in the country music world. Lambert is a Grammy-winning singer who is a fixture at country music award shows, while Shelton has served as a judge on reality show "The Voice" in addition to his singing career.
While the couple are keeping mum about their break-up on social media, Lambert has spoken about her marriage before, telling People, "Marriage is hard, and it's awesome, and you should make a huge deal of it."
