Following the proliferation of the controversial sting videos created by the Center for Medical Progress (CMP) depicting Planned Parenthood officials negotiating the sale of fetal remains, one popular children's author decided to stand up for Planned Parenthood by offering an impressive donation.

According to the New York Times, Daniel Handler, better known by his pen name Lemony Snicket, and his wife (illustrator Lisa Brown) have pledged a $1 million donation to help fund Planned Parenthood as Republicans lobby aggressively to cut its federal funding.

Handler, the author of "A Series of Unfortunate Events" (his best known series), wrote on Twitter: "@lisabrowndraws & I are giving 1 million dollars to @PPFA. We've been very fortunate, and good fortune should be shared with noble causes."

Handler is not the only big name standing beside Planned Parenthood as they face public scrutiny. In fact, the Daily Signal has listed 38 major U.S. corporations who have publicly supported Planned Parenthood with funding including Liberty Mutual, Microsoft, Converse and Starbucks.

An NBC/Wall Street Journal poll earlier this week cited 61 percent opposition to cutting funds to the organization.

Although the hearings were heated this past Tuesday as Planned Parenthood president Cecile Richards testified in front of Congress, those voices do not seem to have swayed its support system.
