Yet another mass shooting, this time at a 2-year college in Oregon. The story is unfolding as we write this. The gunman is in custody, news outlets are reporting.
According to preliminary information from CNN, at least 10 people have been killed. Around 20 others have been injured, some critically.
The shootings happened at 10:38 a.m. Thursday, at Umpqua Community College in the central Oregon town of Roseburg. The campus remained on lockdown and classrooms were being evacuated to a nearby fairground, accord to a law enforcement spokesperson.
Around 3,300 students attend Umpqua full time and around 16,000 are part-time students. The school opened in 1961.
MomsDemand Action, a non-partisan movement demanding policies that address gun violence in the U.S., tweeted the breaking news.
UPDATE: CNN reports the gunman, a 20-year-old male, is reported dead, killed on the scene. 10 people now confirmed dead. (2:09 pm)
