Mom Posts Craigslist Ad to Find A Baby For Her Teenage Daughter

A Georgia mom was arrested for attempting to find a baby for her 14-year-old daughter.

Elaine Williams, 47, of Cumming, Georgia told police her daughter wanted a baby and promised to get one with or without her help, so she decided to help.

According to Fox8 News, Elaine placed an ad on Craigslist offering a "home for your newborn baby."

The ad also reads: The baby box is designed to offer a loving home for unwanted newborns. The baby box also allows for anonymous drop-offs. Newborns placed in the box WILL reside in a loving, caring, and forever home.

The ad says the baby must be placed inside a designated baby box in a blanket, along with the birth certificate and health records of the baby. It also specifies that the baby should not be disabled.

"The reason was, OK if you don't want your child or you can't afford it or whatever situation you're in, then OK, maybe we can work something out," the 14-year-old told WGCL. "It wasn't for illegal adoption."

Sheriff Duane Piper investigated the ad after a tip from a Craigslist user.

"What we did find was the 14-year-old's bedroom was outfitted with a crib, baby formula, diapers, gifts for both sexes," he told Fox8 News. "They were going to find a baby some place."

Elaine was charged with domestic-unlawful advertisement/inducement for the adoption of children. Her 14-year-old daughter also faces juvenile charges.
