8-Year-Old Burn Victim Has One Christmas Wish

Safyre Terry was the only one in her family to survive an arson fire two years ago. Now 8, her only Christmas wish is to receive enough holiday cards to fill up her tree.

Her story is a heartbreaking one. Firefighters in New York found the little girl next to her father, 32-year-old David Terry, who used his body to shield his daughter from the flames. Sayfre also lost her younger siblings Layah (3), Michael (2) and Donavon (11 months).

After suffering severe burns to over 75 percent of her body, Sayfre continues to have multiple operations, the next on January 5. She also lost her right hand three months after the fire and her left foot in March.

Her paternal aunt, Liz Dolder, now has sole custody of Safyre. When Dolder bought a tree to put cards up, Sayfre was excited, saying "I can't wait to fill it up."

"Honey, that's probably not gonna happen. We maybe get 10 cards a year, and the card tree holds 100," Dolder responded.

So Dolder posted a request on Facebook. Since then, Sayfre has received an overwhleming number of responses, even a card from Hulk Hogan!
