Most people take their babies to see Santa for that ubiquitous first picture every parent has. But Canadian mom Rebecca Dunbar decided to take it a step further by breastfeeding on Santa's lap instead.
Dunbar tells City News that her baby got hungry as she was waiting in line so she "asked the photographer if he'd be OK taking the picture and he said, 'Yeah, for sure, if it was OK with Santa.' And Santa said, 'It's been 40 years and never had a question like that, but why not.'"
The new mom reveals that she took the picture mostly to be funny, but was completely unprepared for the reaction she received after posting the picture on Facebook in an attempt to normalize public breastfeeding, which was mostly negative with several commenters calling the picture "trashy." While most of her personal friends have been completely supportive, Dunbar still finds the vitriol aimed at her to be "disappointing."
Dunbar argues that she's far more covered up than most pictures of scantily clad women online and that "If people want to say, 'Oh, you look happy in that picture ...' that's about as far as it needs to go."
What do you think? Was the picture funny or inappropriate?
