Grandma's Reaction to Adoption Will Make You Cry

Miranda and Donny Goeb came home to Franklin, Indiana, for the holidays and brought home a major Christmas surprise for her mother—a baby girl.

The couple, who both worked for the Air Force until recently when Miranda retired to start the adoption process, decided to keep the baby Melissa Faith's arrival a secret until they saw their family in person. That secret lasted 10 days.

Miranda tells WTHR, "We chose not to tell our families due to so many unknowns. We wanted to protect our hearts and theirs. We were taking a huge leap of faith. Once the baby Lily [Melissa's nickname] was officially placed with us, to become our daughter, we decided that it was not the type of news to be shared over the phone."

And the first time that Grandma Eva meets her granddaughter is completely tearjerking.

"Neither of our families thought we were coming home for Christmas, let alone bringing a baby," Miranda shares. "They were shocked, enamored, in awe and in love, simultaneously."
