Dad Sends Hilarious Note to Excuse Daughters' Tardiness

When a Saratoga Springs, N.Y., dad wanted to teach his daughters a lesson about honesty, he had no idea that his life lesson would become a viral news story.

Patrick Pipinio allowed his daughters (Isabelle, 12, and Sarah, 7) to attend a Springsteen concert in Albany that lasted for more than 3 hours. The next day, the groggy girls were late for school, but they didn't arrive empty-handed. Their dad handed them a note that was painstakingly honest, sharing the real reason why the girls were late.

According to ABC News, the note read:

"Last night, Isabelle was lucky enough to see Springsteen and the E Street Band in Albany, and darned if he didn't play for three and a half hours. This may not seem like a good excuse, but have you ever wondered how many kids would be late—or miss school outright—if God were to suddenly appear?"

We can assume his daughters did not get into trouble with their teachers but after the note went viral via his post on Facebook, he was more worried about his wife's reaction.

"My wife is a schoolteacher in the district." Pipino told ABC News, expressing concern that he would get in a bit of trouble with his wife for his antics. "She was mortified by not knowing what her betrothed did."
