Single Mom Gives Away Winnings To Homeless Man

A single mom in Massachusetts was having an extraordinarily lucky day when she won $200 on a scratch-off lottery ticket. Later that evening she decided to pass on her luck to a man she saw sitting on the side of the road in freezing temperatures.

The man was standing on the side of the road with a sign asking for help. Sofia Andrade pulled over and offered to take him for coffee and a bite to eat. They introduced themselves. He said his name was Glenn Williams and that he had no place to stay. At that moment she remembered her lottery winnings in her pocket.

"That's when I knew why God had blessed me with the winnings. I took him to Wareham where I took my winnings and put him up for 3 nights at the Rosewood Motel," Andrade wrote on the GoFundMe page she organized to help Williams.

She organized the GoFundMe page after learning that Williams had been homeless for three years.

"I'm hoping that we as a community can come together and give this man a second chance. Please anything can and would help. Thank you all and God bless," Andrade wrote.

A day later Andrade had exceeded her goal of collecting $5,000 for Williams.

"I couldn't believe there's somebody like her," Williams told WCVB. "She deserves a lot of the credit for where I am right now."
